Now seeking entrants for the 2011 MuralFest!

Entries invited for murals based on the following poem by John Lindsay.

SCARY HAVEN

At Haven's side by Prestongrange
Where the Baltics berthed by night
You might hear the yell of the Hoi-Hoi man
Or the knock of a Poltersprite.

You could swim from the stranded Topaz hulk
Whence a voice from the Follets' denShrilled:-
"It's no weel moored! It's no weel moored!
It'll ne'er be moored again!"

 John Lindsay for Muralfest 2011

NOTES : "The Haven" was a place that caught the imagination of local bairns. Topaz was the last sailboat of any size to use Morrison's Haven - it never escaped the silted harbour and was buried when the Haven was filled with rubble in the 1950's.  In its prime the Haven was regularly used by Scandinavian and other Baltic traders and foreign sailors on alcohol would no doubt produce strange noises from these boats of a night!
